MY Mission
My Goal While Training Adults: is to help you accomplish more than you ever would on your own and enjoy working out and playing sports.
My Goal While Coaching Kids: is to help them fall in love with sports and moving their bodies. My voice will be in their little minds forever. I take this very much to heart. It must be a positive voice. Mostly summed up by “I’m proud of you and I believe in you.” If they are having fun at it, they’ll continue playing. If they keep playing they’ll gain confidence. Now, let’s take this confidence into the classroom, relationships and work ethic for the rest of their lives helping them become better citizens, students, brothers and sisters, moms and dads.
Now THIS is what we are really after.
Ok, All Sports Coaching Rules!
rule #1: do my best
This one is tricky because one’s best is different every day. How do I feel? How much “juice” do I have? Do I have a cold? Maybe I just had a “spat” with my best friend. The bottom line is EVERY SESSION, GAME OR PRACTICE let’s identify what level of my regular effort can I give today? (Scale of 1-10) If I have a “7” in effort of my effort in me today, then let’s give a level 7 effort. (not a 5 or 6) Maybe once we get into it we actually get
an 8 or 9!
RULE #2: HAVE FUN!
Allow yourself to play at whatever we are playing! Truly enjoy each moment. Do not live and die emotionally with every repetition to the point that we are stuck in the last moment. Be right here. Right now! Laugh! (even when you miss.)
RULE #3: SUPPORT MY TEAMMATES
If you’re on the field and your teammate drops a pass that would give us a first down, pat him on the back and say “Hey, we’ll get the next one.” If your on the bench, stay engaged and involved in the game. You never know when you will be called upon. If a teammate’s Auntie just had baby, we should rejoice a little! If a teammates Grandpa dies, we should be a little sad.
